Twenty-One Tara Puja for H. E. Choden Rinpoche,
Sera Monastery India

Sera Monastery will host a special prayer and puja for H. E. Choden Rinpoche, with 3000 monks in attendance, doing 100,000 recitations of Praise to the Twenty-One Taras. The prayers and puja will be dedicated to Choden Rinpoche's health, long-life, and supplication for Rinpoche to turn the wheel of Dharma extensively.

Everyone is welcome to participate in supporting this event and the monks at Sera Monastery. One can participate by offering a monetary donation which will go towards food, drink, and offerings to the monks of Sera Monastery.

There are three ways to donate:

  • Donate on-line at Network for Good. Please select "Ananda Dharma Center" for the Program Designation, and write "Rinpoche Puja" in the Dedication entry field.
  • Mail a check to the Ananda Dharma Center, 122 North 5th Street, San Jose, CA 95112. (Please include "Rinpoche Puja" in the memo-line)
  • Drop off a check at the center in the offering box. (Please include "Rinpoche Puja" in the memo-line)
Please try to ensure donations are received by Monday, February 13th, since Geshe Gyalten will be leaving for India shortly thereafter where he will meet His Eminence Choden Rinpoche and help organize special prayers and pujas.

This is a wonderful opportunity to generate positive merit, to create causes and conditions for Rinpoche to continue to teach and guide us, and to support the Dharma for the benefit of innumerable beings.

(Note that Rinpoche is in good health currently, and this puja is dedicated to his continued well-being.)

Note that Rinpoche will be doing more extensive retreat this year, and will have a limited travel schedule in comparison to previous years, to accommodate the retreat time.

We are indeed very fortunate to have access to such precious, profound and extensive teachings by such a living master and embodiment of the Dharma as Rinpoche.

Rinpoche is in good health, after manifesting knee problems late last year, and has agreed to come to the U.S. for these special teachings. Please pray that Rinpoche maintains good health and continues to guide us well into the future.

H.E. Choden Rinpoche recommends all of his students to do Tara Puja, 21 Praises to Tara and Tara Mantra.

Saturday Schedule:

Nagarjuna's Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way with Geshe Norbu
Geshe-la continues to teach from Chapter 24 of this very important text, which explains the Prasangika-Madhyamika view of Emptiness. His Holiness the Dalai Lama recommendeds these particular chapters for study.

Chapter 18 - Examination of Self and Entities
In this chapter self (as an object of refutation) and liberation are identified.

Chapter 24 - Examination of The Four Noble Truths
This chapter presents the Two Truths from the Prasangika-Madhyamika perspective. The two truths are presented as one entity, but two isolates, and examined via four reasonings on the topic. This chapter also covers how to meditate on emptiness.

Chapter 26 - Examination of The Twelve Links
This chapter covers how we enter samsara and how we can exit samsara.

In addition, Geshe-la recommends the following material. These are links to recordings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's first teachings in the West of the Four Noble Truths. His Holiness taught this subject in 1997.

Ananda Dharma Center has discontinued Tuesday evening classes for the time being.

Thursday Schedule:

Medicine Buddha Puja with Geshe Norbu
Ananda Dharma Center holds a Medicine Buddha Puja every Thursday (except when Lama Chopa falls on Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. Come join us for this powerful offering to the Buddha of Healing. All are welcome to attend..

By the power of gathering together every Thursday night to do the Puja under the guidance of our Teachers, and by putting our energy into the practice and developing single-pointedness of mind, numerous ADC students have experienced the power of helping reducing obstacles, bringing back good health, success and happiness.

We encourage you to bring a name of a living person and a deceased person for dedication of merits on that day. Your participation helps to create a very powerful and meaningful atmosphere for the Puja. Please plan to attend.

Tsog Schedule:

Varies, usually at 7pm
Tsog is held on the 10th and 25th of each month according to the Tibetan lunar calendar. The day of the week varies. Check the latest Weekly E-News for the current tsog schedule.
