The author of the text, Yanchen Gawai Lodoe is often called by his abbreviated name Yangchen Galo. He was an eminent scholar-saint of the eighteenth century. This presentation of the path is based on the incomparable masterpieces of Lama Tsongkhapa and his heart-like disciples. Yangchen Galo’s lucid and comprehensive discussion of the mantric stages of the path represents an invaluable aid to meditational practice. The grounds and paths discussed can be likened to our highways with their route numbers - travelling on them is safe, enjoyable and above all enlightening. As long as practitioners keep themselves on these paths there is no chance of going astray.
The text to be used as a reference in the class will be "Stairway to the State of Union" by H.E Choden Rinpoche. It is best to have a copy of the book in the class in order to acquire deeper understanding of the teachings. The book is available for purchase at Ananda Dharma Center.
